GHOST STORIES
HAUNTED YORK
GHOST OF THE LITTLE GIRL IN BLUE
I used to work in a small café under one of the entrances to York City centre. The bell above the door rang and I came out from the back of the shop to serve my customer. To my surprise the customer was a little girl dressed in the most extraordinary blue and with an old fashioned bonnet tied around her head. She looked such a picture that I turned around to ask my work colleague to look. But when I looked back the little girl was gone! There was no way she could have left so quickly and, if she had, I would have heard the loud bell above the door.
Some years later, I read a book about the ghosts that are said to haunt York. Centuries ago, a little girl used to visit the shops to collect bread for the soldiers. Her spirit still travels the old streets in search of bread. She wears bright blue clothes and bonnet!

Clearly, your story gives credence to the legend. People often think they see a ghost after having been told a story but you saw the ghost before you discovered the legend. Spooky!!!!! |
